Local exhaust place want £460 just to supply so Christ knows what I’m gonna do now hopefully one of the other garages are happy enough to fit if I supply.

If you're worried about blocked cat, you can always take it off and then see if you can ram sonething flexible like a hose-pipe up there and break it up enough to pop it out. Not ideal as the rngine will have been designed to work with a certain amount of back-pressure. If it is broken then you'll hear it if you shake it about. If nothing is moving in there then maybe just leave it alone.

I never checked but assumed the were gutted by a PO, U shaped welds on both, i can only imagine they've been cut open with a grinder
Could be wrong, you know what they say about assumption

Definitely seem to be rattling at least is sounds like the cats and not the heat shields above them, if I give it a gentle rev the rattle seems to disappear as if the back pressure keeps the bits in place. Under normal acceleration seems to rattle again though. I doubt I would be able to get a pipe up to them what with the middle silencer curving down to one pipe and if I took it off the engine side then obviously may as well replace the cat at that point since it’s almost out anyway, just doubt I could do it on the floor plus like I say chances are would need some heat on the bolts I would think and looking at rave transmission support may need to come off aswell. Assuming I can find a local mechanic that’s willing to fit if I supply it should be alright as £166 ain’t too bad minus labour obviously. Still think she might be drinking some coolant though as it was a little lower when I went out today but not by much.

Have you checked around the bottom of the engine for any coolant leaks, if not pull the plugs and check any difference in colours
Haven’t spotted any leaks, will try pulling the plugs when I get chance, my have a more in depth look at the hose to water pump as was just reading a few hundred pages back in the what did you do thread and @kermit_rr seem to have repeated trouble with that hose.

Not that I’ve been able to see so far, gonna try and get a good look underneath with a torch tomorrow.

I had a small leak somewhere around the engine on my diesel, my son with his eagle eyes spotted the pipe that runs around the back of the head was hissing coolant. I replaced all the pipes under the bonnet. The rear being the easiest... Err... Not:mad:
Different engine I know...
:)

Check for cracks in the expansion header tank, they are known to fail and it's not always easy to see where it's dripping.
Will do, I know Kermit had new one and cap not to long back and it still releases a bit of pressure when taking the cap off when cold so I would think the expansion tank is holding.
