My 200tdi has a coolant leak somewhere, I'm pretty sure it's not the head gasket, I thought it was one of the heater pipes at the back of the head, I've had a look at them and took them off, no splits that I can see, stuck em back on nice and tight. Anything else it could be? The spray pattern looked like it comes from one, but I don't know anymore.
Anyone had a similar problem at all? I have to top up the coolant every day and it's getting quite annoying now. It seems to spray out some coolant once the engine is warm.

HELP!!!

Cheers.

What about a core plug letting by, there is one on the back of the head, just below the two heater pipes, they do go occationally, only £2.50 to buy but head off to fit.

Get some K-SEAL from a good car spares shop, it's a bit like rad weld but 1000 times better, that should stop it

good luck

K-SEAL you say? Just a case of sticking it in the coolant system and hoping for the best like rad weld? Think I'll have to invest once everywhere is open again then. Cheeers!

have a search on here about k seal before you commit to bunging it in, might give you a better idea of the downsides as well as the upsides of it:rolleyes:

Cheers, had a quick look and theres a big discussion on the stuff, I only want to use it as a temporary measure till I fix it properly, and when fixed, I'll flush the coolant. It won't damage the engine will it?

depends, it fooked my rad up and that didn't really help the engine. bastard head gasket went. end of the day radweld/ kseal and all the others are only masking a problem, i learned the hard way that the only solution is to get it sorted properly. mind you kseal and rad weld keep selling so you can draw your own conclusions:)

be carefull to cheack for a core plug on the engine blok i had the same problem with my 300 tdi it was just under the core plug on the head only trouble is its engine out to fix.....a new core plug is less then a quid from paddock

I love it when that happens! Just goes to show if you go into something expecting the worst, you can be pleasanly surprised. Unless you own a P38 in which case the most expensive part will be one at fault!

I had the same thing on mine - losing loads of water, no obvious leaks expect some mist in the engine bay and the rad looked like it was breathing. Couldn't see anything. Turned out it was the small return pipe on the water pump had a pin hole that misted out coolant when hot! I was looking at buying a new rad and everthing....
