Hello all,

I eventually decided to buy myself a discovery after many months of questioning and wondering.

So it is with me now. A 2002 Td5 XS (Middle spec in SA with SLS and the like).

I am very happy with it at this stage (other than the fact that I just found out I do not have the CDL spigot - which makes installing a CDL quite expensive)

I have a few quesions that hopefully someone can help me with.

Firstly, what is involved in fitting the CDL if you do not have the spigot. Is it basically a removal of the transfer case and changing a few bits and bobs and the outer casing? Any idea on cost?

Secondly, I have seen that there is a threaded hole at the bottom of the bell housing. There is no plug in it? What is this for? Should it be plugged?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

about the models yrs 2000/2002 LR decided to do away with the CDL.
however on some models the guts were still inside the box, but no linkage.
so some were lucky and had one of those.
some didnt have any guts! like yours???
then LR went back to basics and installed em again!

good luck. no idea what the costs is to install a cdl complete.

re the plug hole, its for automatic draining, of the **** out of the bellhousing, most cars have a similar arrangement.
when wading in deep water, with your landy, you need to plug these up. simple plastic plugs can be fitted.

As per "Ormus" for Diff lock

Bell housing should only be plugged if you intend going in water and still should be taken out every now and again to let the crap drain out.
