Hi everyone.

Apologies if there is already a thread on this problem.

I brought my Freelander about six months. Love driving her.

However, whoever had her before me installed an after market radio and sub-woofer, which was removed before I brought her, and the car has a constant feed issue which manifests itself in the following way:

(1) The clock, tripmeter, and radio have no memories. I turn the car off and when I restart her - the stored radio stations have been forgotten, the tripmeter resets to 0, and the clock resets to 1.00. This happens every time.

(2) I am unable to use the remote and central locking. Strangely, I half turn the ignition and the remote locking will lock.

This is why I'm going down the constant feed route.

I can sort of live with the first set of problems.

However, the lack of remote locking is getting to me.

What I have been doing is leaving the engine running and then pressing the door lock switch down by the rear door window switch. I then turn off the engine, open my door, get out and then manually lock the driver's door.

Unfortunately, I have forgotten to do it this way and have locked myself out a couple of times. I've pressed the door lock lock switch whilst my door was open. Result .... my door doesn't lock/or unlock properly. I've called out a locksmith, at £60 a pop, three times to get my door open, and the last time I had to break one of the quarter light windows to get in.

So, I am looking for any advice on this.

Does anyone know how to sort this out?

Sounds like it could be a blown fusible link in the engine bay fusebox.
Audio, locking, and instruments share a common permanent live feed.
