The roof in the rear of my Defender 90 is wet through with condensation, and drips on whatever I have in the back.
Does anyone have any ideas, has anyone lined the roof and sides with insulation and trim?

camping mats or my favorite Laminate flooring underlay (the foil backed foam one) are the best things to use. Make sure you get a good quality Heat resistant headliner Adhesive though or anything you use will peel off once the sun is beating down on the roof. You can get the glue from any car body shop suppliers.

Don't use PVA adhesive like Some other idiot suggested last week.

Soneone suggested using some old carpet which sounds plausible, anything to prevent a cold surface for the condensation to form on should do the trick though.

Cunning! I suppose the trick then is to make sure the there's no gaps between the lining and the roof, else you'd just end up with condensation forming there and soaking the lining? Or is my science right off?

No, that would probably be sensible, so it would be therefore best to do this while your landy is upside down. Trago has a nice shag pile in at the moment but stay away from Carpe-trite.

you want a piece of cord carpet in grey. it is thin and easy to form around the frame of the hard top, it also looks really good when fitted neatly. bets of all its very cheap and any carpet shop can get it. if you dont want grey they do it in loads of different colours. cord is the way to go.:D
oh yea i live just down the road from GUILFORD AUTOMOTIVE who produce materiels for the trimming of vehicles and you can some times buy roll ends cheap.

Problem with carpet is it gets wet and smells. use a close cell polyurethane foam as found in Camping sleepmats or Laminate flooring underlay and it's 100% water resistant, offers much better sound and heat insulation qualities than carpet, looks neater (the underlay does anyway) and is easier to work with.

If it can't settle on the roof, it will stay in the air till it finds some nice cool metal and condenses so it will probably stop it dripping off the roof but you will get more on your mower etc!

would this work on my metal roofed shed?,everything in there gets bloody soaked because of condensation.

Best way to prevent condensation on the inside of any roof is to make sure it is isulated and that there is an air gap between the underside of the roof and the insulation. Kingspan or Celotex as it known is the usual choice. fit it tight between the rafters leaving at least a 1" (25mm) gap between roof and insulation. Then make sure their are air vents at the eaves and at the ridge. This allows cold air to circulate under the roof without entering the shed. It will also be cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
