compatable reverse switch

hi i have a r380 gearbox and having same problem as some on here have to hold it tight in reverse for lights to come on . i was wondering is there a compatabel switch a couple of mm longer with same thread i can use or if i take guts out of old switch could i tap & die and bit of butchery it and fit a switch from lt77 box into it (what thread size is the lt77 switch) then its always adjustable .has anybody done anything like this????

ps what thread size are the 2 difrent switches so i can try and shop for alternative

Why not just buy a genuine replacement switch? Much simpler.
Mines 16 years old and never caused any bother so they do work.
Chances are your switch is u/s
 
i got a genuine replacement but think the bit that pushes against it is worn so not conecting proper and thats why i want a solution as i dont realy want to drop the box just for that to big of a job for a switch problem
