hi lads looking for some advice,having problem starting car every morning it takes 3 to 6 times turning over to get it to start,but once started it starts no problem rest of day,usally stop using car about 11pm so sitting for about7 or8 hours,thought it might be glowplugs changedthem still the same, thinking of changing filter next .have any you guys any other solutions cheers pat
 
This may be inappropriate but I had the same problem. All I did was wait for the diesel-heat light to go out before turning it over. The problem went away.
 
I've heard of problems with fuel draining back overnight and taking a few goes to start. You can buy a non return valve which you fit in the fuel line in the engine bay and this could help. Only about £10 and 5 minutes to fit.

I noticed something similar ( ('97 P38 Auto) but not as bad as you describe. What I did was switch on ignition let glowplug light extinguish : repeat twice (i.e. light on three times. Starts first turn of starter.

Hi paddocks. Just stumbled across this in Rave when I was looking for something else. Sounds like it might fit your problem but the guys who know what they're talking about might tell you I'm talking bollocks. Check it out with one of the sensible people.
Rave p. 418 syas that failure of the engine coolant temp sensor ( X126) will cause long crank times in cold weather.
Just a thought......might be bollocks.
