So, last week we broke down...again.
Breakdown guy said that i'd blown my points, coil and condenser.

This i had already figured out, as she'd been doing the same things that she's done before.

So, got lift home, got new parts, have fitted them....but

she still wont run.

I've got 12v going into the coil, but nothing coming out of the HT side. I've tried holding, carefully, the centre lead against the engine block while the wife turned the engine over, but nothing.

With everything plugged in, she'll turn over but won't fire, the car not the wife, everything seems to be in the right place but there dosn't seem to be power getting to where it needs to be.

Any ideas???

the points are switching earth on neg earth vehicles-if you haven't got the points in correctly-then it will be shorted to earth and coil on continuously or wire to coil shorted out=no spark.

check points are opening also
Secondly if you are going through coils regularly =most likely you have a ballast resistor ignition system(12v to coil only on cranking) and it is getting 12 volts all the time
