just noticed on my way home that i can make the clutch slip if i try etc....first time its been out for 2 weeks and it was fine before....checked the master cylinder level and it was nearly empty so obvoiusly they is a leak somewhere.
can this be the cause of the clutch slipping....the pedal is quite hard but no different then before and no play.
like i said it was great the last time i took it out

Loss of fluid will not make the clutch slip - sorry about that!

Causes of clutch slip ...
1. centre plate worn out (this happens quite suddenly in diaphragm spring clutches)
2. clutch cover jiggered in any of many ways.
3. OIL contamination usually from the rear bearing of the crankshaft
4. release mechanism jamming before returning to rest position.

There's not a lot else can do it.

Need to watch if there is oil on the plate that its not come from the gearbox, along the imput shaft, blocked breather or seal away, imput shaft bearing worn out.
 
topped up and drove home and left it overnight....following morning going to work and at least 80 plus more miles and its back to normal...not slipping at all so it seems i need to change the slave cylinder....just glad its not a clutch fault:)

Sorry if I'm insulting your intelligence, but do you know the difference between clutch slip and clutch drag?
 
Well clutch drag would make more sense with the other symptoms (empty cylinder etc)

You're right as usual, but he definitely said "clutch SLIP" ...

Maybe he a transvestite and can't tell the difference between a lady's silk slip, and drag ...

I also find it strange, air lock or loss of fluid would have the opposite effect. You sure nothing is sticking like clutch pedal on pedal box, when it gets hot from heaters it sticks a bit.

Take the slave back and operate the fork and see if it is free, might be all gunged up, and all the fokin about you have been doing has freed it off at the minute. You might be unlucky and the fork is busting through the pivot.

When the slave is off you can check it, you dont say why you are going to change it, leaking?
