He guys,

I'm back the land rover fold, after a few years away. This time with a 2001 1.8 ES freelander! Not had it long, and all seems ok so far, except,

The CLUTCH is very heavy, even compared to the S3. Having removed the air box to get at the cylinder I can see the alignment of the plastic cylinder seems off, and the slave is very loose and wobbles when clutch is pressed. The u clip is in place, but I can nearly pull the cylinder off the mount without removing the clip!

I understand the bracket can break on these, does this cause the wobble?

Happy to buy new cylinders and bracket, but seem to be struggling to find the right ones, anyone know the part numbers, DLS and Paddock have not been able to answer the question!

VIN ends 1A313726.

Can anyone help with part numbers and any experience of the heavy clutch?

Cheers

The clutch arm will be seizing up where it goes through the box inside the bellhousing. Requires box out to sort unfortunately. Can tell by removing the slave from the bracket on the box, and the arm should move freely, until it hits the clutch cover, obviously

And if it does seize up totally, the hydraulics will fall apart when you press the clutch pedal and bend the bracket

Mikey,

Thanks for the steer on this. I actually lubed the fork pivot at the weekend whilst looking at this problem and the result is intantly lighter! Hopefully we have caught this in time!

Got a new bracket on oder and hopefully this will solve the alignment.

Cheers!
