clutch slave cylinder

Is the thread on the nut attaching the pipe from the master cylinder left or right?
I am trying to replace the slave cylinder and cannot undo the nut holding the pipe to the cylinder. It has probably been there since birth and wont budge.

Any ideas on how to loosen the nuts, I am going to replace the master as well and cannot undo the nut on that one either.
