Hello,

When changing gears from 3 to 4 the clutch disengages fine, then it will go easily into 4th. when trying to engage the clutch (letting foot off pedal) it seems to stick and not go straight into 4th gear, it also seems it revs but this may be due to the accelerator being pressed?

i changed the master clutch cylinder last year (not done the slave one), do i need a clutch service kit?

Has anyone got any ideas what it could be?
thanks

Richard

If I'm understanding what you have written correctly, the gear lever moves easily from 3rd to 4th but the gear doesn't engage when you take your foot off the clutch? I wonder If you are fully in gear - maybe wear in the gear selector mech. I'd take any covers/padding of the levers and try again, a little bit more movement might prove if this is a the problem.

the above is correct but the gear does engage after a couple of seconds, then all is fine! its only going up from 3-4 doesn't happen coming down the gears

the gear does engage after a couple of seconds

This might seem a bit of an odd question, but can you be more specific? If it really is two whole seconds, that's very odd, if it's just 1 or less, I'd still be thinking about wear in the selector mech - assuming all's well when selecting all the other gears. Is there any noise when it drops into gear? A clutch problem should affect all gears, but a worn selector ball/mech may not. Hopefully it's not the 4th synchro/gear.

There is no noise when it drops into gear, it is definitely only going up from 3-4. It seems like two seconds but it maybe less. I drove it to work this morning and no issues what so ever (22 miles). its just weird!
