Ok, i got the hose fitted :) filled the res. and tried to bleed the system... been out there for over an hour tonight and didnt achieve anything :( how long should it take?

the haynes manual says i should leave the nipple open untill nothing else comes out, but im finding that its drawing the level of fluid out of the res. so i been doing a bit then top up, doing a bit, then top up. with the doris on pedal control. cant seem to gain any pressure.

the initial fluid is pretty airless, but then just as the pedal is on the bottom a load of air comes out.

could i be doing something wrong? or do i have one of the bastard systems that just refuse to work?

pulled my wade plugs out and its dry. so its not going in there.

thoughts?

press the pedal when yu open the bleed nipple or while yu is checkin the fluid.

basically wot yu need to do is
1) open the bleed nipple.
2) press down on pedal.
3) close the bleed nipple.
4) let the pedal back up.
5) repeat 1-4 whilst checking the fluid level.

till yu get clean fluid out of the nipple and the pedal dont feel spongy after 4 above.

It can be a pain in the arse. Try jacking the front of the vehicle up so the slave cylinder points up hill, an if that dunt work un bolt the slave cylinder DONT PULL THE PUSH ROD OUT THOUGHun screw the bleed nipple an push the cylinder as far up into the cylinder as it will go, tighten the bleed nipple an bolt the cylinder back on. Then bleed it as you would normally. On mine the bleed nipple is at the bottom an the hydraulic inlet pipe is at the top. I reckon they should be the other way round but the hydraulic pipe wont fit the other way, wich way round are yours?

nipple ontop grunt. ive given up for tonight, its dark and im depressed! im off to london tomorrow and prob wont return until friday. should i invest in an ezi bleed kit then? will it magic away my bleeding headache?

Nah won't help a bit if yer cant do it the owld fashioned way. The only way is to get rid of the airlock in the cylinder and if the piston end is higher than the nipple end then nowt'll do it so try lifting the front of the vehicle up, or driving it up ramps or summat

Eh an did yer know that if you take the drivers floor panel out you can bleed the clutch the owld fashioned way without having to get some one else to press the clutch pedal, yer just reach up through the floor and pull the pedal down thissen.

you must have to have might strong arms once the pressure builds... i still cant see me managing it with the front raised. i still need the res topping up while i go.

allright i need a quick opinion.

after eventually bleeding the clutch the pedal now bites alot lower than it used to AND its nowhere near as stiff to push down as it was! i drove it off the drove. 30m down the road and reversed back into my drive. ran pretty smooth in 1st and rev. does it seem ok? the pressure isnt felt until ive dropped the pedal ~2".

do i risk driving to swansea tonight?

if you push the pedal down till you can just get 1st then slowly let it up till its starts to bite. the two pints should be close together, if they int yer clutch plate is fooked... if yer pedal is moving excessivly before doing any thing then i can only think that there is some actuator rod adjustment like wot the series have got. have you checked that?

nope i havent. if i didnt change anything and just pulled the slave off and reconnected and bleed with new fluid would it still need to be adjusted? i just went for a 5mile drive and it seemed ok :) im hoping it lasts
