After some advice

The other day jumped in the beast, put my foot on the clutch and it stayed on the floor, had i quick nose underneath and thought the clutch slave cylinder had gone
Got the new one today and tried fitting it, but i have problem the clutch is stuck in the disengaged position, I know I'm now going to have to remove the gearbox because obviously something has gone wrong

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be / any known problems, clutch pressure plate / clutch arm broke?

It's a diesel by the way

Cheers Stu

The clutch release fork is held on the crosshaft by 2 spiral pins these have sheared allowing the shaft to rotate in the cluth fork. The pins cost about 3 quid from the stealers, also change the oil in the gearbox/transfer case and check the condition of the clutch while your there...

those pins have a habit of shearing i did mine last year after my pedal went to the floor the pins were main dealer pins and i double pinned to be sure. all was good for about 3 weeks and pedal to the floor again so took it apart again new pins and a small touch of mig weld on both sides all good since then. :) i think some people might not agree with the weld but it worked for me

Cheers for the heads up on the clutch folk pins
My mate picked it up today and is going to sort it out, i just dont have the time at the min to do it myself

bloody heavy gearbox, not a thing i could do,need about 4 guys, lots of tea and biscuits, and if it is a real struggle some alcohol helps :D
make sur you check the dual mass flywheel, and from experience keep away from valeo clutch kits as mine failed in less than 500 miles.
luk is what i shall put in mine from now on.
you pays your money ya takes your choice, maybe i was unlucky, but once bitten.

I believe "Valeo" clutches are oem fitment, I'd say you must have had a duff or badly fitted unit...

Well the clutch has gone again, same thing as a few months ago but this the time the clutch is stuck on looks like the fork pins have gone again
So the box is coming out again, is there any way of stopping the clutch pins breaking?

I have my old p38 sitting on the drive for the same problem reckoned the pressure plate was worn and heavy to press and caused the pins to brake, will get at it some day

Hi friends,

I receive Monday, a LUK repset (box) for the P38A.
(I buy in another place the DMF)
When I open the box, I have inside a Valeo kit!??!?

I send a email to the sellers and I receive this:
"... If Valeo are the original manufacturer for this clutch then LUK will by the plate from Valeo and put it in there box so it is still an Original Equipment Kit. You can contact LUK direct on 08457 001100, opt 2 the opt 1 and they will confirm this for you.

They have to supply the original equipment kit so if either Sachs or Valeo make the clutch for the car when the car is built new then LUK have to by the components from them and have it in the kit so it is then classed as an original equipment kit.
"
What did you think?
It´s true?
Should I "open" a case with paypal???

Well I finally got around to taking the gearbox out and found the release bearing had collapsed the two fork pins were ok strange thing is it looked like a very new valeo clutch kit with almost no ware on the disc or pressure plate so faulty release bearing I had ordered a valeo kit for it now I don't know weather or not to fit it or go get a Luk one for fear of the release bearing going again, the last owner must have had a clutch and flywheel fitted before he sold it as the flywheel also looked and felt new we bought the car from a garage so can't check when it was fitted but we have only driven 4000 miles since buying it sounds very early for a clutch to give out
