Hi there, hoping for some advise. This is an intermittent problem, most of the time the clutch is working fine but every now and then it is rock solid. Sometimes this last for quite a while causing real issue, sometimes it only lasts a couple of presses and then is back to normal. I have replaced the slave cylinder but it made no difference so I replaced the master cylinder and it is still doing it. Any ideas would be gratefully received. many thanks Chris

You've forgotten to politely introduce yourself, neglected to tell us what vehicle it is and posted in the wrong section.....

Apart from that you're doing well :p

:) I'm Chris from Weymouth Dorset, and I have 1991 Defender 110. I'll look for a more suitable forum and post again.

No worries tis moved.

Rock hard pedal is often the rod from the slave pushed through the release arm or the arm pivot worn through but doubt that could produce an intermittent issue

Hi, I have checked that when I replaced the slave, it is fine and the rod is still connected to the fork.

Check flex hose as they can collapse internally Ive had it on cars admit they were very old 30/40 yr old jobbies

Hi, I've replaced the flexi hose but it still hasn't fixed the problem, any ideas would be gratefully received.
