Has anyone had experience of repairing or replacing the clutch pedal, basically on my 2.0d Freelander the (plastic) linkage / push rod that ultimately presses the master cylinder has either worn or broke which means that when the weather is hot (for some reason) I have difficulty engaging gears, especially first, and coming down from third to second, and second to first. The bit that has worn / broke is the 'elbow joint', which seems to be on a 'pin / rod'. If I had the assembly in front of me I'm sure I could 'bodge' it, unfortunately it is in a pig of a position under the dashboard and its difficult to see what has worn / broke. Has anyone got a close up picture of this linkage to see how I could 'fix' it? It looks like the two sections are slipping apart along the pin / rod, but can't see whats allowing it to slip. If I squeeze them together the engagement of gears is fine for a bit until they slip apart again - so its definately this that's the problem.
Thanks in advance.

By the way, if anyone has a Freelander Workshop manual (5th edition) it is diagram 33M0310 in the clutch repairs section that is the offending item, the cross shaped end of the rod I think allowing the highlighted bit to move along the rod?
