I have no idea whats causing the problem as the car generally runs really well, but when it gets hot after say about 30 minutes of driving if I have to stop and put the car into reverse there is a slight delay and then the car clunks into gear. Also, occasionally when driving, on acceleration, the car surges. Can anyone please give m an idea what could be causing these faults. I have had the car checked on the ECU and no faults found. I also had the gearbox oil changed even though it wasn't due but it still keeps happening!!

Its a 2007 Freelander 2 2.2 Diesel Auto

Hi. It’s done 120k but it has been regularly serviced by both Landrover and LR approved garage from new. Took it in with the problems and after checking it out and a lot of head scratching were honest enough to say they didn’t know
