Another problem which I hope you can help me with.
2003 Freelander TD4 Serengeti AUTOMATIC. 137000 miles. I recently purchased this car and on the test drive I didn"t notice this noise. On starting up either at Traffic lights, roundabouts etc if I push the accelerator pedal down slightly harder to get away quicker I get a clunking sound from the rear end, sounds like it"s coming from the rear diff.
On normal driving the automatic changes up and down with no sound at all.
Any ideas please.
cheers

Hi,
Thanks for that. Is this something I could do? As a pensioner I"m not that mobile but clambering underneath a Car would be just about do able.
I can get some car ramps, so would these be ok?
cheers

My guess is that you could do it. Put the back wheels up on the ramps.

I am 67 with mobility issues and I found it not too hard to do. I found it easier to bend the side of the mount plate and just take out the front bush, rather than have to remove all 3 bushes to do the front one.

You can confirm that the front bush is the issue by getting under and trying to move the front of the diff up and down. If it moves quite easily then the bush is the issue.

You can also do it by removing the rear right mount as well - this allows enough play to get the front mount out. You don't need to disconnect the prop.
