I have a couple of oily splutters in the engine bay. I think one is from the gearbox oil cooler pipes.. I want to clean up the engine bay as it was mint when I bought it.. Whats the best way to do it.. The gunk stuff needs liberal rinsing which is something I dont want to do as I dont want to risk the electrics. Would neat traffic film remover work or would that need rinsing to?

I think that I will go with some Gunk foam and a stiff brush, wiping down with a cloth then rinse with a hand spray so I can keep the water away from any sensitive areas.

Still think that its going to end in a new gearbox oil cooler and pipework.

Washed mine off quite a bit with a jet wash and detergent and it's coming up nicely. I just don't directly jetwash the electrical boxes as that's probably asking for trouble l. I always do it with the engine running too so it can burn off the water.

Don't go anywhere near injector 4 or the round plug either.

I did mine after a drive with oven cleaner wiped it in with a cloth let it sit for 5 and a quick wd40 around inj 4 and round plug.
Then while running quick short rinces with a hose and thumb over the end
Then an electrical cleaner over the plugs.

Then a drive to be sure everything was dry and still working.

Rangies and water arn't the best mix in the world.
Drowning one in water is like chopping your finger off then expecting it not to hurt :p
