My head-lining is lying upside down in the middle of the living room floor, a situation that has arisen due to leaky sunroof syndrome. My wife is not going to tolerate this for more than a few days.

Does anyone have any recommendations for something to clean 14 years of grime out of it? Hoovering doesn't cut it and I can't scrub it in any way as that will destroy the fabric and the soft layer underneath.

I guess I need some sort of foam cleaner or something...

Thanks,

M

Do a search, there have been a number of people removed the fabric and liner and painted it! Looks better (though I guess that's personal) and lasts longer and won't sag anymore .. :)

Option two is to replace it, most car interior trimmers will do it, or sell you the fabric if your brave enough to do it yourself. The fabric is backed by foam, and at the age yours is any attempt to scrub it will probably cause the foam to break up and separate from the fabric...not pretty.
Try U tube. I am sure I saw a post about DIY in the past.

Sounds like mine, although mines falling to bits aswell. When I get a free weekend of sun I'll be stripping it and painting it:)

Hmmm, it actually seems to be in pretty good shape; no sagging or holes. I've got plenty of other more urgent things to do on the vehicle than strip all the cloth and polystyrene off the headliner and paint the fibreglass (although I've read those threads and it might be something I do in the long term).

I was hoping someone could recommend a cleaning product that might work... If not I'll just be putting it back dirty.

(It was actually not that hard to get out, lots of things to undo but that's just tedious. Didn't have to move the trim on the B-pillars as some how-tos suggested. Tricky bit is getting it out of the back door without damaging it. Putting it back may be a different story though!)
