There are chips available, but I don't think they do much..

A good trick is to fit a 3.9 camshaft, that makes them quite a bit nicer.

Tyres? I dunno, but mine has 235/70/16s and no issues. Much bigger and they can cause trouble on full lock or full axle articulation (off road).

That's about the biggest tyre you can get on it with no probs, If your looking to offroad it, just get decent muds for it and you should have plenty of fun.
I had my suspension lifted by 2" and could get 265/75/16 on mine without it rubbing.

Very good feedback from BF goodrich mud terrains.
Other good ones are the likes of Insa turbo dakar (a copy of BF goodrich), insa turbo special trek.(extreme fun offroad but bit noisy on tarmacadam)

oh yeah, fer a 2" lift do you need longer brake lines n stuff

Nah, you'll get away with it for 2" lift
Be wary of some of these remoulds - they may not have the required speed rating for your rangie and would void your insurance if you were in an accident !

cheers guys,it's got firestone wilderness ap's on it but i'm not sure on the condition yet so any more tyres i get'll prob be more mud orientated, i'm not too bothered about road noise as it's worth it for not getting stuck as soon as you drive off the black stuff.
I was looking at the insa turbo's as they're quite cheap, are there the ones that aren't speed rated?

Your car is capable of doing over 100 mph according to the book so you need tyres of at least R(106mph) rating or better still S(112mph) to stay the right side of the law
I don't know if the tyres you want are in either of these bands and I would be surprised if they were - my money is on them being Q(99mph) rated
It's not how fast you intend to go but how fast you're motor is capable of going that matters - be warned !
Why do you want mud tyres anyway ? - unless you are planning on spending most of your time driving in mud then they will be a waste of money, wreck your handling and do your head in with the noise they make, they will also wear VERY quickly if used all the time on tarmac
If you must have them then DC is right - BFG mud terrains are very good, fairly quite and last well, although they are dear to buy - get what you pay for I guess
Why not invest in some good all terrain tyres which will get you most places a standard rangie will go and still have some road manners - or get a spare set of wheels for your muds and swap them when needed

that's what i was thinking of doing, getting a wheel and tyre package for the muds depending on how worn the wilderness's are, if they're knackered then i'll be looking at an all terrain type as i can't afford 2 sets, cheers kenny!

essex tyres will do you a set of kumhos kl71s on modular rims for 460 including the nuts and balancing

and theyll be the biggest you can get on ya classic-cos im getting some in a bit.....when im not spending money on everything else
