Classic rear parcel shelf identification !

Hi all ,I have just bought a classic rear parcel shelf for my '92 SE Vogue , and find that , apart from it being the wrong brown ! It is shorter than my existing one , so there is a 2-3" gap at the lower tailgate !Also it has long side mount brackets with two locating hooks, opposed to my one hook ! Is it a post november '92 type or an earlier 2 door type , and what is the correct name for the -darker than my sorrell brown -colour ? cheers.

its shorter, as your vehicle probably does not have the bass box in the back.just the tool kit cover. cant help you on the colour though.

Isn't the bass box over the offside wheel ? surely that might affect the width accross the vehicle , not the length from the back of the seats to the tailgate .

i have 2 locating hooks on my lse, but cant think why its shorter width wise, sorry had a few beers yesterday when i answered, did not read properly.

Silly question I know but is the item actually from a RRC? I've owned four of these old stagers, ranging from an '85 through to a '93 & never known a 'shorter shelf'

i cant see what its actually come from. been trying to think, what else it might fit. where did you get it from?

I can sort this for you , I just did it on my 1990.

Its that you have bought the later classic type which should fit on different wheel cover (with the net pocket) and on the bass box cover the other side. I bought both the side bits too and fitted them to my older type rangie and it worked but the is a small gap front and back.
I concluded that they increased the rake on the back seat slightly ,on the later classics-which probably a good idea as they are a bit upright.

Right, now we are getting somewhere ! In my book "Range Rover - The first generation", it states in the '89- '95 chapter,in the specification boxes, that in October 1992 , the rake of the rear seat was increased !So, if the back seat leans back a bit more , then the distance from the back seat to the tailgate will be reduced ! So it looks like I have bought a post '92 shelf ! Now then , what colour parcel shelfs were offered then ? I would like to know so that when I put it on ebay , I will be giving the correct description , so nobody else will be misled like I was !! Cheers all .

This is my first Rangie too.I've had mine 64 weeks !! I am off to Stansted airport tomorrow from Wolverhampton , and am looking forward to the Rangie trip just as much as the airplane , especially as I have just got the cruise control working ! I have just had a reply to a letter I writ to the first owner from 1992 ! Iknew he was a director of Vickers plc (Rolls-Royce), but it turns out he was president of the company !!And it was his car in Tokyo for a year (jap export model !).
