The very earliest RR's had alloy bonnets & lower tailgates but were found to be lacking in strength, hence the change to steel items which have been used ever since. I believe there are GRP bonnets produced but the suppliers usually state 'not intended for road use' or words to that effect.

I'd be interested in one of those Fett..
Not because I'm bothered about the weight, more that the leading edge on the road green 3.9Efi steel bonnet is rather flaky. Not too distracting at the mo, but it's only gonna get worse with time

well if stu ever gets the bonnet to me then I will make my moulds and get started , only been wating 7 months
