The very earliest RR's had alloy bonnets & lower tailgates but were found to be lacking in strength, hence the change to steel items which have been used ever since. I believe there are GRP bonnets produced but the suppliers usually state 'not intended for road use' or words to that effect.

Mine has a steel skin and ally frame IIRC.

However I picked up a genuine factory replacement a year ago and that is all steel.

Cheers

Chris

frame on mine is alloy...but too bloody heavy..looking at reducing weight..

wait a year or two and we may have some nice FRP ones for ya.

you done your , air suspension , salsbury axels , slipper diffs, abs and blower yet? :p

What difference is the weight of the bonnet going to make, none that's what.
If your that worried take it off and throw it away.

I wonder if the frame in mine is ally?

I'd be interested in one of those Fett..:)

Not because I'm bothered about the weight, more that the leading edge on the road green 3.9Efi steel bonnet is rather flaky. Not too distracting at the mo, but it's only gonna get worse with time

well if stu ever gets the bonnet to me then I will make my moulds and get started , only been wating 7 months :p

Mind you gonna have to get the 72 finished now too
