Help, I am just about to buy a gallon of petrol and a box of matches! My 86 3.5 EFI will not start or run on petrol, it will on gas. Have changed the fuel pump as it had a faulty wire inside, but have since found there is no feed to the pump or injectors (not clicking). The pump relay is clicking but no feed can be found to the pump. Today I have followed all the diagnositc checks in a workshop manual, but it still refuses to run on petrol. Even changed the air flow meter as some of the readings were not correct.

Any help would be greatfully received.

PS can the engine be changed to carburettors without to much fuss?

have you checked if there is power to the fuel pump relay. if there is try bridging the the connectors in the relay holder. if there's no power to the relay trace back to the ignition/fuse box or make youre own supply

Hi,we are doing the same sort of thing ,3.9 v8 lump allready fitted in but not plumbed in, efi and inlet were not on the engine when we bought it, but came with su carbs and inlet manifold which we have now fitted ,just a case of fuel suply and wireing a coil ,not hard but still have to wire most bits like temp ,oil gauges ect its depends how much work to remove the efi hope this helps

:) rob and morgan:)

I had this with one of mine a couple of years ago. Put 12v to the fuel pump fuse for a couple of seconds and it kicked back to life. Sticky pump relay.

Many thanks, I will try asap with the live feed. Also will investigate the relay to see if it is faulty.
