I'm thinking of replacing the whip aerials and wing boxes on my former FFR S3 109 converted to 12v. If I connect them to an FM and/or CB will they work?

Since you are replacing them,
what with?
Not having worked on clansman I'm betting they are completely the wrong length / tuned frequency
The old aerial will probably receive FM radio, but finding out how long they are and tuning them to the correct division of FM would make them work better.
Trying the transmit 27 MHz on clansman aerials has a good chance of damaging your CB, it's even more important to have a correct tuned Aerial for transmission. Get it wrong and the reflected power would bounce back and kill your output circuits.

Thanks for this, I was going to get genuine clansman parts the aerials come in 1.5m and 3m sizes for land rovers I believe. As for tuning the aerial I was an infantryman not a signaller so what I'm doing with an FFR Landcover I'm not at all sure. This is code for saying I haven't got the foggiest idea apart from plugging in and switching on when it comes to radio. Basically it sounds like a definite no no for the CB aerial and a suck it and see for FM. Thanks for the advice.
