Cigarette lighter

Hi all, I need to change the bulb on the fag lighter in my Td4, I've followed the instructions in the Haynes manual but I'm buggered if I can get the lighter body out to get to the bulb, any clues?.....please.....

Lie in the passenger footwell and try to get yer arm behind the plastic to push the fag lighter out. You will need to bend the plastic out a little bit. If yer got fat arms it won't work.

You could try pulling the adjacent switch tops oft then lever the switch forward and disconnect the switch from the wiring, then push the fag lighter from the rear if yer finger will reach.

Failing that plastic needs to come oft.

Cheers, I've tried pushing the lighter out from behind after moving the heating controls to one side but it wouldn't shift :-/
Will try out your suggestion though.

Some clip into the metal part and ull need to push that part out first then wiggle the plastic body out (depending on the sort yours is) can you post a pic and I'll check my Haynes for you see what it says, but ull prob need to pull the console out to get to it, on mine there was a seperate wire for the illumination and I think the bulb was contained and not swapable, but mines L-Series

Thanks guys, getting a photo may be difficult due to access, I'm off work on Friday so may have a bash at getting the console out, I'm a bit OCD where interior lights and electrical equipment is concerned-simply put it must ALL be working! Lol

hi

ive got plenty of patience but when mine went i removed the centre console and carefully broke the lighter assembley out and bought a new one as i also had the light go and felt what was the point in spending ages getting the thing out if it wasnt reparable

went to a main dealer and think it was about 20 quid for a new one

Bulb is in a separate holder on the side of the illumination ring - small wedge base bulb

Remove lower centre console and slide out the bulb holder from the cig lighter and replace the bulb and jobs a good 'un
