My Range Rover is a 2002 petrol 4.4l automatic.

My cigarette lighter is stuck! It's the one next to the clock. It used to come out quite easily for me to plug my sat-nav in to, but now it won't budge. The more I pull the more it seems as if the whole assembly might yank from the housing.

I can still use the one in the armrest but I'm one of those people who just have to see everything working as it should.

How can I get it free without breaking it?

Hi mark, welcome to the forum.
Will a bit of heat not release it.
I don't recommend using a blow torch but maybe identify the fuse and then press the cigarette lighter. You can then pull the fuse before your dash bursts into flames.
PS don't worry about the etiquette police.
I never bothered when I joined. But then I only came across well balanced loonyzoners, they had a chip on both shoulders;)

25 meter piece of string, tie one end around the cigar lighter, the other end out the rear tailgate (open) and tied around a suitable tree. accelerate away from the tree in low ratio.

Fixed it!

First I tried to prise it out with a plastic shim, but that wasn't strong enough. So, with the ignition off and a very small flat-head screwdriver I managed to lever it out quite nicely. No damage done to the car or the lighter.

I've swapped the lighter with the plastic stopper from the power socket in the armrest so the problem shouldn't re-occur.
