Recently, I've noticed the choke light coming on whilst driving. It's a 110 CSW 200tdi. It usually happens as I'm pulling away with low revs. As soon as the revs build up, it goes out. The engine sounds perfectly normal and there's no less power than usual. Any ideas gratefully received!
Thanks
Jonnie

exactly! But the light on the dash has got a bulb in it which has taken to coming on randomly! In the little green handbook, Land Rover calls it the 'Cold Start Warning Light'. But it's got the choke symbol on it......wierd!

Handbook says:
On Diesel models the amber warning light will go on when the starter key is turned to the heater plugs 'on' position. The light will go out as soon as the engine is started. If the light remains on with the engine running there is a fault that should be investigated...

The choke light is used because LR were too cheap to make a petrol version and a diesel version.

If the light comes on randomly once engine is on and warmed up the cold start relay is goosed.

Thanks Sean - I'm in Bristol and it really hasn't been all that cold down here yet - God knows what will happen in Jan! What is the GP timer light?
Hi Discomania! Where is the cold start relay situated? Can't find it on the circuit diagram (Haynes manual) - got all the books out!
Jon

OK, Thanks all. looks like I need to test the plugs and relay. It's an under the bonnet job, so will leave it for now - blowing a gale here now!
Cheers
