chipping/re-mapping 3.0 TDV6?

can i chip or get my tdv6 (when i get it) remapped or chipped and what can i expect in regards to power gains/fuel economy?

Also is it safe to do? Heard a few horror stories on a bmw forum (it is the same engine at the X5?)

i found a guy that remaps them cant remember the figures/cost but he posts on here, real helpful bloke, he may be along sometime to comment a bit more

Think you mean the TD6 they never made a TDV6, they did a TDV8 in the later models

Sorry matt meant to sat TD6, cant stretch to the TDV8 unfortunately
