Remove fuel feed pipe from filter or remove the filter, place pipe in or position a suitable measuring vessel under filter head. With ignition OFF remove fuel pump relay (relay12). Take wire from positive side of battery and power number 5 contact on relay socket for ten seconds, in this time a minimum of 180Ml of fuel should be pumped. Number 5 is the connection which is contrary to the other three.

Bleeding injection pump. Ensure lift pump runs. Connect wire as above and leave connected for 5 to 10 minutes to bleed air out of injection pump. Injection pipes will have to be bled by cranking after pump is bled. Fit pipes to injectors finger tight, slacken quarter turn. Crank engine. As fuel with no air appears at injector close injector nut. Caution engine may start as this is done. If you do this with manifold off make sure no loose material can be drawn into the inlets as engine starts.

On vehicles 1999 and on lift pump runs on cranking so injector bleeding is easier. On pre 1999 vehicles it only runs with glows or with engine running. So whilst bleeding injector pipes on these models it pays to have relay 12 powered as above whilst cranking. Wait for glow lamp to go out before cranking though.
