checking air suspension on L322

make sure that you can raise and lower the car to each position without any problems. Check each of the 4 air bags condiction, cracking of the rubber will cause leaks and problems with the suspension system. If you are looking to buy a L322 just checking the air suspension is the least of your worries, these cars are extremely complex machines and have many common faults, if you look back at my previous posts you will find a monster list of things to look out for when buying on of these range rovers.

Hope this helps
Matt

sorry to jump in glenbat but a quick question to matt
Can you physically see the 4 airbags? (Im assuming one in each corner?) just lay underneath and check them out?
I'm currently compiling a list of things to check as well, a lot from your posts actually Matt so thanks for that
glenbat i will send you list once i done it if you want?

Hi mate, you can see the bottom of the front ones if you raise the car to off road setting and the rear ones can only be seen from underneath the vehicle. You need to look out for cracking or wear of the rubber when the car is in it's off roading mode as the constant folding of the rubber when lowering and raising car wears out and cracks the rubber this is a common leak area on the air bags. When you have finished your list would you see me a copy

cheers
matt

yeah course Matt, a lot of the list was from your posts anyway, hope you dont mind :)

Was thinking of having it lowered slightly, re-programming theres a guy does it on Ebay, your thoughts on this? Would it put extra stress on the airbags do you know?

My advice would be DO NOT DO IT! why would you want to lower the suspension? lowering the suspension is bound to cause even more problems on a model of vehicle that is already know to have so many other problems without causing even more, the suspension is setup to provide the best possible drive, you can lower the car to access height to ease getting in and out, the car 'squats' when traveling on the motor way to provide a better high speed handling and you can raise the car to off roading height when you need to negotiate obstacles. Why would to want to mess with this setup? Messing with the suspension is bound to cause trouble when going over bumps if there is not enough space for the wheels to rise when you hit a speed bump etc... then it will just hit the wheel arch and cause major damge, i just cannot see the point.
Sorry if my advice seems a bit harsh but i know what trouble these cars can cause.
Matt
