the trouble is its been done before but this does work just wanted to know if anyone else had tried it before

I have a pal who used to have a SAAB 900 turbo and ran that on 'water injection' ??

He said it made the car quicker (a lot) and more economical. I think it had something to do with increasing the charge, a little like an intercooler but using a different method.

No he didn't.

I have a SAAB 900 Turbo 16 Aero sitting in my shed.
One day I will do it up.

It is a 4 cyl dohc 16 valve fuel injection turbocharged engine, and there is an accessory WATER INJECTION kit which sprays water into the inlet tract under high power circumstances. This addition of water mist enables the engine to use MORE FUEL without melting inside, and so the power goes up - because it used MORE PETROL.

The water it uses is in no way a fuel. It merely absorbs a lot of heat by turning from an atomised liquid mist into a true vapour (steam).

Water CAN NOT be used as a FUEL in any internal combustion engine.
