Hi, im new, so be nice!

Im after lifting my Defender no more than 2", as im often scraping the underbelly when going over rock piles/mounds etc.

Ive seen a few ways of lifting the body (without buying expensive new dampers), which include:

-Welding box section onto the chassis to mount the shocks onto.

-Inserting specially made washers between the spring retainers.

However, i have no welding equipment or direct access to a lathe.

Id like to know if it would be possible to lift the front by simply fitting 2" shorter shock turrets, and lifting the back by fitting longer springs, and then just buying extended Goodridge brake hoses?

Cheers.

i dont think you can do it with your turrets. ive got 2" spacers under my standard springs which cost £65... cant get cheaper than that. i didnt even need new brake hoses as mine seem long enough. fit the kit and see if you need them 1st. you could save yourself £30 each end.

Coil Spring Lifters

quite easy to fit too.

Cheers dude.
Would those spacers not just have the same effect as longer springs? TBH id rather do the latter, as id really prefer to keep the number of parts as low as poss, plus my current springs are fecking rusty!

yes it would but springs your looking at £55 each end. if yours are shagged though. get 2" srpings. britpart do some good uns on the paddocks website.

WARNING! I got britpart yellow springs and it sits severly tail high (110 though). I heard there are some good Blue springs made by somone else for the same price. Ull be wanting the ES9000 2+ nitrogen gas shockers with that, there great, make the ride much more better. :D

Rich.

find a local engineering company and get them to machine some spacers.
shorter shock turrents will only allow the axle to droop lower, to get a lift the spring area needs to be longer either with spacers, or longer springs; annother thing would be to lower the spring mounts on the chassis
