hi i brought a land rover 3 series a few months ago and have started rebuilding it but the parts cost too much (because I'm a student LOL) wondering if any of uses know somewhere really cheap and good quality to go to? any help much appreciated...

bustersbus, refurbing the parts is a good idea but I'm a student would never get the time LOL tried ebay and yeah you can get cheap parts on there but not all the time I got a full set of seats for just 1 pound :D not bad i think. oil dripper, thanks paddockspares looks really cheap might get my new Exhaust System from there only 35 pounds now that is student prices LOL

Stay out of the students bar a couple of nights a week to work on yer motor;):p:D:D

And, be patient .... that cheap part might not be there when ye want it ( ebay) but might pop up soon;):D

but the students bar is where its all happening LOL but yeah i do need to spent a bit more time on her. "spend a little more money" :O ive spent everything i have just on getting her going LOL but yeah brakes is important was thinking about upgrading them to defender ones? wondering if one of you two know if they fit?

Nothing wrong with series brakes if they're set up properly and correctly adjusted........why make things more complicated than they need to be?

KISS..........(Keep It Simple Stupid) :D

LOL so youre saying defender brakes aren't safer? ive fitted new series brakes and i quote my brother "WOW they work better than dad said they would" LOL my dad said i was crazy for buying a series 3 and to start rebuilding it and he told me how bad they are but none of it is true so far she's been as good as gold :D so just asking cos you have two of them blue beasty but is it best to stay with the series stuff or upgrade to like defender stuff?

Depends what you want to do with it.....unless your planning on doing anything extreme why bother.

My 88 has standard 10'' drums, no servo, and will lock up fully loaded if I stomp hard enough, better brakes wouldn't stop me any quicker.

The 109 was a 6 cyl originally and has 11'' drums on the front, shoes 3'' wide, servo assisted. Original series kit.
I do some pretty heavy towing with her and never had any problems, quality parts and proper adjustment is all thats needed.
