As said. The air comes through the floor (from the outside).

It actually is steaming a lot less now. Probably got s bit damp in there over the time between heaters. The other problem can be exit air. I rely on the air finding it’s way out through gaps but it could do with a vent to allow completely free flow.

Oh and the exhaust exits through the near side sill. When I fitted the original one I picked up a large brass plumbing boss that screwed through the sill and the exhaust pipe fits inside it. It’s quite a nice neat job.

The problem is wading, not that I do any but those that do will fill the burner with water if they go in over the floor height. I suppose they could fit it on the roof rack.

Ah sorry I thought you meant the combustion air was drawn from outside (which it must be of cause)

This Chinese unit even came with a rudimentary air filter. It will stop frogs and stuff from being sucked in

I bought one of these a while ago ,tried to fit it in the battery box with the battery
,but to tight a fit ,could not really see another easy place to fit it, so did not bother.
I did think of making it portable ,putting it in a large tool box with a,self contained fuel supply.
,two holes in landy floor, A bit of wiring, in for winter ,out for summer.

I have seen them on ebay from £120 for a 2 KWatt one and watched Youtube video's about them, they are very good and well worth the fun vouchers.

For another £16 you can buy 4X the heat output(as claimed in the Chinglish instruction manuals.

To correct myself, it is now sub £6 increase to get the 8kw heater.

Not sure the bigger unit will go in the space and anything that’s not coming out of the front of the seat box ain’t got an easy rout.

Great if you could mount it under the wing say, and run the ducting behind the dash.

Just had a thought today after firing up the heater in the lorry.
If yours is in the battery box where does the fresh air come from to go through the heater?

Have a close look at the photos. I drilled two lines of 12mm holes in the floor of the seatbox just in front of the intake end of the heater. It’s not a perfect solution as heavy rain could splash up as driven through.
I did want to fit a baffle over them originally but ran out of bothered. I spoze I could fashion one out of my go to EVA foam.

Ok. I had visions of posssibe battery fumes going through the heater
Have thought about a few places to fit these & pipe into the bulkhead but you can flame out if the air speed is forced in to much.


Fired up the esbacher in the lorry living area today to show the mrs.
Need to fit exhaust as it sounds like a jet.

Fit some stiffish rubber to act as a flap. If you go into water the flap is pushed up. Used to have a 32mm hole & 52mm flap worked a treat.

The Chinese unit comes with a silencer but the duct is only single wall. The good stuff is twin wall. Not that it has made any noticeable difference on the series.
I do have a couple of foot from the old unit if you want it.

Luckily my battery is under the bonnet. The secondary one is in the tub.

Oh and you can duct the cab intake as well as it’s output with the big ducting so the air can be sucked up from a sheltered spot. You could even suck it down a snorkel but having several snorkels running up the windscreen might look a bit crap

I have one of these installed in my boat, but I chose the simple controller which is a small black plastic box with a fan +/- rotary controller on it so no screen to worry about. I will fit one to my new Landy in due course as they are brilliant.

Update

Not used Henry for a week. It’s flattened the secondary battery whilst in standby.

Not sure how well it was charged before connection but it’s quite a new large one so it looks like a kill switch is in order when not being used for a few days.

Had the same one in my motorhome for 12 months can't fault it
