i ahve a 1986 defnder 90 with 3.9 v8 in it i am goign to swap chassis over christmas break waths the easiest way to do this is it easiest to remover wings disconnect steering cluth and brake linkages then undo mounting bolts to chassis and lift whole body off as one ?

thanks

Lift the whole body off, leave the wings in place and the front grille bit (as a support and lift the lot of if you can.

Saves having to aling everything again.

You can do it with jacks and bricks and sticks and things, better if you can lift it all off though.

yup as above, if ya can drop on a couple of sets of block an tackle an sum liftin strops even better.
Oh an a nice unit with a nice beefy rsj helps anurl

i have forklift trucks on hand where is the best place to lift it ? so all ill need to undo is steering linkage clutch lines gear box housing in cab and fuel filler and brake lines to pedal then just the mountaing bolts and that should be it ?

Loom that goes into the chassis.

I don't know that its the best way of doing it, but it certainly works for the guys that do chassis swaps near me, they put straps through the windows of the door, out the other side and up onto the forklift.

I think they also bolt a piece of wood in across the front of the wings to act as a support to stop them flexing as the grill assembly is not that strong.

They then cafefully his the shell on 6 tyres (the shell is quite weak relativley speaking between the bulkhead and tub because all that holds it really are the inner sills and the roof at the top" so take care when seating it that you don't twist any of it, mind you it will twist right back but its not worth it.

Yeah I rechassised mine last year, then replaced the bulkhead during the Easter holidays.

What chassis are you fitting - galv or painted?
