Just now getting my 110 back on the road and was prepping for MOT when I took her to get aligned. It turns out the n/s rear wheel is 40mm forward:eek:. The chassis is new (Richards), and have new bushings and QT trailing arms. I don't think there is enough thread left on the trailing arms to compensate (was thinking 20mm per side). Any ideas?

Cheers

40mm is a bloody long way to be out of line! The only things setting the wheel positions are the elephant ears, and trailing arms. On the premise that the trailing arms are both done up to an equal amount on the thread to squash the bushes equally. The only thing I can think being wrong is the elephant ear pposition on the chassis... worth measuring

get a tape on it, for one braket to be 20mm forward and the other to be 20mm back is unlikely, one bracket to be 40mm out would make it near impossible to assemble, my guess its a garage mistake

Thanks gents. The trailing arms and bushes are brand new and good products, the chassis is also new. BUT the axle is old and this may have been a problem before and I never noticed. I'll do some measurements and at least try to get it down in the <20mm area.

I'd get the dimensions for the chassis off the internet and check the chassis is OK - or if your old one is still about use it to take some measurments.

would definitely be checking with a tape measure as 40mm is a big amount to be out, would expect you to feel it crabbing while driving along
you really want your alinement to be as true as poss

Has there been a mix up with the radius arms or something, thinking aloud here really, mounted with the wrong bushes, mounted the wrong way round...
