Ok, I want to rub down my chassis and paint it, my series 3 is an ex mod one so its not in bad nick but there is flaking.

Has anyone done this, i don't have the time space or tools to take my Landy apart but want to maintain it as best I can, should i wire brush it, sand paper it all advice gratefully received, oh and what should i paint it with when i have prepared it?

Is hammerite a dirty word or is it worth using?

I would go wash and dry, wire, red oxide, hammerite then wax oil - I've found hammerite quite brittle so if its on outside not great for stone chips.

Hammerite is a bit DIY but, if your not arsed or snobby about it, its cheap, easy and tough.
