can anyone on here please tell me if its possible to work out how old a chassis is by looking / working out what the numbers mean

i read a thread on here and have searched for ages ( on and off evry night for a week ) this thread told us how to tell how old a series windscreen was from its serial number etched in the corner of the glass

id love to know if this is possible with chassis numbers for the vehicle /chassis manufacture date only

im only asking as the series 3 ive bought has no reg and v5 document as it was bought as an agricultural machine from new and has never been registered for road use

while im doing me little investigations on her id like to know how old she is as im not that up on my rivvet counting and im 99% sure its either 1971 or 1972 as it seems to be built a little more primitive than most series 3 landys and has a lot of series 2A traits such as the razor edge bonnet with the iron bulbhead rivvets holding the front latch pannel on but hey anyone can swap a bonnet

and the seatbelts are the old aircraft style clasp ones with a landrover emboss on the back ( original and got to be verry early seventies ) believed to be round 1971 period

can anyone put my mind at rest before i go through the long laborious drawn out task of dealing with the dvla :confused::confused::confused:
