Has anyone the encyclopaedic knowledge to provide the identification of the wires that go through the chassis at the back of the engine bay and supply lights etc at the rear
I have been studying haynes manual but i am struggling..wiring was missing on mine apart fro the plug in the pic (its cut about 6" from the plug) I have run a 15 core cable from front to back and need to connect stuff up..i am guessing at the minute and there is not enough of me to run back and forth with a multimeter!
Appreciate if anyone could name any of them from left to right or point me at a idiot proof picture!

Hi

don’t know if this will help u much but when I’ve wanted to trace a wire I’ve used a multimeter on continuity and link wires, so u use the link wire with crocodile clips on each end between 2 x wires

also used the multimeter on Vdc so u can switch things on to see what wire becomes lives as u turn things on/ off

With the battery disconnected and meter set to ohms, use a link wire from one wire to another at the front, then use u meter at the back across them, that will save u trying to run a long wire from ur meter

have also got one of these which help identify wires when , especially when they’ve been altered over the years

hope that helps a little

Cheers appreciate the advice on the multimeter was just being lazy and hoping some one was going to tell me exactly what they were! I will follow this link now..thanks again

No probs , was just a thought ref the multimeter so u could get started until hopefully someone will be along to help identify the wires for u

Plse let us know how things go and if the links are useful to u

indeed know what it’s like trying to trace wiring , remember on my old series 3 ended up ripping the entire dashboard out and making a whole new loom after it started smoking down the high street , of course know urs isn’t anywhere like that but just learnt on many other landies using a multimeter was an easy way tracking wires when not having a wiring diagram to hand

All I remember is purple is permanent live
Black is earth

Side lights are handed & separate fuse
Brake lights
Fuel level
Fog light
Reverse light
Unsure if you have rear wipe & heated screen in the loom.
