Chassis change for 2.8 engined 1983 110? is it worth it?

I have had this isuzi 2.8 equipped vehicle for many years and while it has been amazingly reliable I have been informed that it will not be welcomed at the MOT station next year owing to the chassis being heavily patched..

I am not an expert, but I have heard a chassis replacement is possible?

How much would this cost and where could I get it done?

The vehicle has a 2.8 engine in and the lt95 gearbox, which I have long wanted to fit with higher ratio transfer box gears but never got round to..

Or should I forget it and sell the vehicle while it still has a long MOT and see how far it would go against a more recent one..?

I have noted that prices are quite surprisingly high though..

Not sure I fancy kissing goodbye to the 10k plus it seems to cost for even 15 year and older examples
 
First, find a new garage. It can't fail because it's patched. as long as it's solid. Any defender you replace it with is going to need a new chassis at some point, so you are only temporarily avoiding the issue by buying another, unless you buy one that's already been rebuilt or is in exceptional condition. Expect to pay a lot. Chassis swaps start at around 1k plus the chassis, Might as well rebuild it yourself.
 
I would guess that your 110 has had its engine mounts moved/changed to suit the 2.8. If it has and you get a replacement chassis that will also need its engine mounts moving. It is not really a good thing to start cutting/welding a new galv chassis due to the toxic gasses it makes plus you are breaking the galv seal. It may be worth talking to the chassis providers and see if they are willing to adjust the mount positions before they send it off for galving but you would probably need to give them all the info for the mounts. Failing that you could re-engine it to a 300tdi and they will know all the mount positions for that.
