I am hoping to finally start rebuilding this winter and am ordering in parts, and i am wondering what are the differences between:

standard chassis bushes part numbers 569746 and 548205
and
poly bushes 548205 PY at the front and 569746PY at the rear?

what are the benefits or draw backs of the poly bushes and which make would you buy?

my apologies if this has been covered a 100 times already!

size is the difference to bush is longer
poly bushes are easier to fit and to remove later, only fit 2 piece bushes not cotton reel 1 piece type

so they are just easier to fit there is no difference in performance? if that is the case i would prefer the short term hassle of fitting the proper ones and hopefully get the long term use out of them. its going to be used as a day off vehicle so its not going to be used daily so i imagine i should get a few years of trouble free use from the proper set

Just done the A frame bushes on my Defender, the old metalastic ones needed a 150 ton press to get them out, the poly bushes I put in by hand with a bit of silicon grease , I also notice the whole thing is a bit less clunky now although that may be the A frame ball joint.

I've not noticed any real world difference in performance but I've been replacing all my poly's as they fail back to metalastic.
If you find the series ride a little harsh like I did (got back problems) fit parabolic springs.

"performance" on a series? from chassis bushes? Don't make me laugh! Seriously, the poly will be easier to remove but they're not exactly bits you replace annually. Fitting is marginally easier on the polys too, but the standard bushes just need a bit of a tap. Taking the old ones out will be your problem...

After more than 35 years of series Landies there is only one bush I would use. Standard.

Mine are still sat in a box in the shed. I replaced one set after an MOT advisory and they didnt look that bad so I kinda gave up with the rest.
Spoze I should make the effort in the spring.

i know all about removing them had to burn mine out they were seized in! then had to collapse the metal with a punch and hammer before i could get them out, chassis has been galvanised and will (hopefully) have a nice tidy paint job so if i am going to have to burn the next set of standard ones out i would rather change the poly ones more regularly than ruin all my hard work making the chassis as good as possible.
