New galvanized chassis for a 109 will be about 1800 euro's, you should be able to reclaim the vat as you will be exporting from the UK, but remember to add on the import duty to Germany plus the transport.............it ain't going to be cheap. Is your current chassis not repairable?

Vat is reclaimable when goods are exported, he will be liable for equivalent of vat called ITT in Germany which is 16% of the declared value.

when i was importing stuff from Eire and Italy, i had to be VAT registered to avoid having to pay VAT. If i hadn't reg. i had to pay VAT at the exporter rate

Customs and Revenue Notice 725...........as a private individual you can use a registered 'Buyhouse' and goods for export within the EC (Single market) are sold without UK Vat applied.
