charge warning bulb, Series III

Hi Folks

Can someone tell me what bulb to get to replace the charge light (the red one in the water/fuel gauge side) and how its fitted - push/clip/twist ??

I think its a steering wheel off job.

I think the bulb is blown because;
* doesn't come on when ignition switched on
* if I remove the small wire of the back of the alternator and short it, it still doesn't come on
* battery flat

Dont need the wheel off! Just undo the two screws, pull the binnacle foward and the mother ****er always falls out!

you will also find that if this bulb is gone the alternator will not be charging

Yes it does...I thought the bulb had gone, in the usual parlance, but found it was AWOL from the socket
