Hi all.

Well after an exciting couple of weeks in the snow my already tired transfer box has pretty much had it! Sheared the end off the front prop last week and now the back one sounds like its going to snap any day now. (Very loud banging coming from the back when not on throttle.
So tomorrow i'm off to finish stripping my doner tdi ready to replace the broken bits on mine.
Now my question is what parts should i replace whilst everything is off? Someone suggested a new clutch for the gearbox swap, just the clutch itself or other bits as well?
Will defently be changing the prop's and trans box, anything on there i should replace as its off?
Also probably gonna get the diffs off (though i might just keep them as spares) but if i do swap them over anything on there too?
What this "donut" i hear about to do with the diff?

The truck is a 300tdi manual, going to be fitted with a 2" lift and possibly a 3" body lift, 235 mud tires. Used for off roading and some heavy towing. Gives people an idea as to what to suggest i should fix.

Any info or advice appricated.

Cheers Chris.

I would just swap the whole transfer box. You can do that with the main box still in place.

The donut is the rubber coupling on the rear prop at the diff end. If you get a 200tdi rear prop and change the flange on the rear diff you can swap over to a normal four bolt end with a standard UJ.

OK cheers for the info mate. I've now removed the gearbox and transfer box together from my doner Discovery. Its a 200tdi but i was told it had been fitted with a 300tdi gearbox, reverse is to the right and down on the gear stick i hope it is.
