how easy is to change the thermostat on a 200tdi

Pretty easy - you would do it in 10minutes...

You take the clip off the coolant hose, pull the hose off, undo the bolts, remove the hosing then you can withdraw the stat, stick in the new one, you might need a new gasket, these can be made from a cereal box.

yer might wanna drain some coolant orf before hand and top up when yer done. also you might get away without taking the hose off and just undoing the bolts
