Freelander 1 changing the radio prob with wiring

Started to unscrew the centre console tonight for me new radio ,before it got to dark I thought I would have a look to see what connections were on the back. From what I can see on the back of my radio I can only see one white connector but my new radio has two one for the power and one for the speakers . Have I got the wrong one ?

What year and what radio do you currently have?
Your replacement has standard Din connections.

The year is a 2006 td4 and I have the standard single cd and radio

I have a 2006 TD4 and have changed my original radio to a modern one with Dab.
I had to buy an adaptor for the radio and one for the steering remote to work.
They are very helpful and know their stuff.
I always buy my radio stuff from them.

I have also just changed the radio in my son's van and again they helped me to get the connections right.

Thanks lads I know some one who just deals with alpine stuff and he is very helpful I have got my steering wheel controls , spilter ect coming either today or tomorrow , after I have sorted my sons Freelander out if I get chance I will have a better look at the connections

OK panic time I just took the radio out and it has a single red plug ( I know before you say anything I should have done that first) the steering wheel adaptor I have ordered is a connects 2 CTSLR004.2
the picture on ebay looks nothing like the red plug but the one on the connects 2 site does . I am hoping ebay are using a generic picture and I get the right one tomorrow

There you go ignore the heater controls that's the crap out of the radio opening looks like a baker had it before me, on a side note In the centre consul the part were you adjust the handbrake there is a purple and black wire any idea what that's for ?

Your current HU is the standard Vestion CD. My SE had the multi CD version.
I made up my own harness for mine. However the Connects 2 CTSLR004.2 will fit your car's harness and should make the wheel switches work too.

Yep after a bit of fiddling it fits and works can not say the same for the fascia tho the cubby hole part refuses to click in to place

Fascias in modern cars are designed by demented morons who are very good at using CAD software and signed off by penny pinching accountants.

Just saying like.

I am beginning to think you could be right , it was getting a bit late here when I had a play I will have a better look tomorrow

My cubby box is the same. If I try to retrieve something small from the back of it. I pull the hole thing out the dash, once I close my hand around whatever I was retrieving.
It doesn't come out in normal use however, and is perfectly placed to store my droid when listening to BT music. I'm thinking about fixing a Qi charger coil onto the bottom of the cubby too. This would then charge my phone while it's sat in there.

Did yours come with a black bit of rubber with a bit of sticky tape on ? I have my numpty head on now but not really sure were that goes . Not sure if it was a good idea but I smeared a little bit of copper grease around the white plastic cogs of the heater/fan controls while I could get at them they looked very dry

Mine didn't come with any rubber stuff. I stuck some black felt in the bottom of mine, to stop things rattling in it.

The purple and black wires are for an accessory socket that can be fitted to the back of the center console/cubby. It has its own fuse and relay and rated higher than the cig lighter socket.
