During the oil change on my car last year, the sump plug lost half its thread while i was trying to remove it. it ended up loose, wouldnt tighten up and woughdnt unscrew either. Had to remove the sump, still full of oil, then drill out the sump plug, after id emptied the oil obviously, then go down the dealers for a new sump plug before putting it all back together.Didnt fancy a repeat this year ,so bought a 3 way pump, pump, suck and transfer air/liquids. As the car,s dipstick tube gives access to the bottom of the sump, I will use this method to drain the oil this time.

Will the same method work with a 300 tdi?

Thank you.

If the threads being stripped someone has used to much force in the past and wrecked it. if you use a torque wrench this will not happen. Use a new sealing washer as well. If the thread is stuffed on the 300 tdi then i would see how much a replacement from a breakers is.

no dip stick will go to the lowest part of the sump, the baffler plate wil not stop you from draining the oil via the dip stick as this is what we have used before but is better to remove sump plug hope this helps
