Hello all

I have a poorly M reg 300 Tdi Auto Discovery. It has no Airflow meter or some of the electrics of the later engines.

I might have a chance of picking up an engine from a 1996 Manual discovery.

Is this a straight swop or are there any things I need to worry about?

Thanks for looking.

Flywheel and housing are only differences i can think of.
Looks on e bay

Both engines should be mechanically controlled so no nasty electronics there. You need to change the flywheel and its housing over to driveplate and its housing. You need a couple of brackets from the auto injector pump go on the manual injector pump (throttle and kickdown), and the only slightly complicated bit is the bit I have just done

Thanks guys.

That looks quite technical to me, I dont mind simple nut and bolt jobs, but when things get technical, I get worried.

Maybe I will continue looking for an engine and box combo as after 225000 miles I think the box is not at its best any more.
