Changing colour of text

So when I want to change text, for whatever reason, certainly not to get around any swear filters or suchlike, why do I select a colour, usually the very nearly but not quite black so it's difficult to tell the colour has been altered, and then the cursor jumps halfway up the text and then also unselects the colour? This repeats several times, and occasionally the word that I'm trying to alter also gets broken up like someone's pressed return? Using fat fingers on my only slight cracked Samsung galaxy android phone.

I dont have a problem changing colours.....

Probably maybe,?? I could try my old one & see if it makes a difference, I dont use my phone for lz or any other tinterweb
I find it a pita to use it.

Try turning it to landscape (if you normally use portrait) and see if it's the same. That might confirm the screen digitiser going tits up.
